 More than 30 years ago, with great entrepreneurial spirit and a taste for home cooking, Sandy Margist purchased the Smyrna Diner at 304 N. DuPont Boulevard. Jamie Compton, Sandy’s daughter, is now the diner’s general manager. In 2006 with her lease about to expire she found a better location down the road on Cory Lane and began designing an entirely new diner. “We are keeping all the things our customers love about us: great food, great service, and a value for money,” says Sandy. “The new location accommodates bigger parties and houses big breakfast buffets on weekends. It is handicapped accessible as well.” Even though an entirely new diner was created, Jamie says they kept the “homey feel” inside. ”We took this feeling with us,” she said, “the spirit of the diner.” |
